Life After Libby

A week ago, my heart broke. My world crumbled beneath my feet

.

Our sweet Libby passed away in a terrible accident.

The hardest part for me isn't just that she's gone—it's that she was alone when it happened. Just this thought has created more ache to the grief than I ever could of imagined.

My heart keeps whispering, "She was alone." But then another voice reminds me that one moment does not define an entire life. Libby's story wasn't one of loneliness. It was one of extraordinary love. She knew what it felt like to be cherished every single day. And while I couldn't hold her in her final moments, I held her through so many others. I pray those thousands of moments of love were what filled her little heart.

Libby came into our lives weighing just over two pounds, fragile and fighting for every breath. She had a hole in her heart, and no one knew how much time we would be given with her. But God had other plans.

She became our house goat. She claimed her safest spot, sleeping right on my chest. And though as she grew, she still continued to stake her claim each night, on my chest. Yes, she did sleep in bed with me every night. As she got older and heavier, I did manage to convince her that right beside me was just as safe as on my chest.

She slept beside me every night, followed me everywhere, and somehow always found trouble to get into. She chewed my oxygen tubing, climbed where she wasn't supposed to, and believed that if she could be touching me, everything in life was okay. She continued to fill this home with laughter every single day.

For such a tiny goat, she left hoofprints that seem impossibly large today.

I hate that I couldn't be there to hold her one last time. I hate that she faced her last moments without me. But I also know this: every day before yesterday, she knew she was loved beyond measure. She knew warmth, safety, gentle hands, laughter, and a family who adored her.

Libby, thank you for trusting me to be your person. Thank you for every cuddle, every mischievous adventure, every laugh, and every reminder that even the smallest life can change a heart forever.

Run free now, sweet girl. Your heart is whole. There is no pain, no fear, and no brokenness anymore.

You will always be part of It Starts with Grace Farms.

Until we meet again.

💔🐐
